Gracie Brandt-Erichsen
Hi I’m Gracie, the youngest of the Humblebee sisters!
I grew up in Southeast Alaska and now live in Kingston, WA. Growing up in an isolated island community (in the middle of a rainforest no less) meant that we were always trying to find ways to entertain ourselves— bonus if they could be done indoors during the rainy and windy winter months.
Our family always engaged with the arts through theatre, dance, painting, sewing, and more. My favorite memory from growing up was taking part in the “Wearable Art Show” which involved crafting and modeling art pieces that were entirely wearable.
I like to bring this energy into my crafts today, by treating each item I create or upcycle as a piece of wearable art. Along with sewing, another passion of mine is reducing textile waste and pollution. Scrapstar, my special project for Humblebee, is made up entirely of upcycled projects. The goal is to turn used textiles into works of wearable art that can be enjoyed for years to come.
